Nothing is as pernicious as solidified habits and old inhibitions. In a relaxed and secure atmosphere we will be drawing in our studio at the top of the turret and also around Castle Homburg. High above the Main River there are paths, subjects and rest spots where we can wonderfully experiment, reflect and explore. The countryside’s ambience encourages a quiet and concentrated work atmosphere –as do the breaks with inspiring conversation, together with Franconian cuisine and regional wine.
The assignments can be set individually according to skill. Therefore the course is for people who think ‚they cannot draw at all’ as well as for professionals desiring to leave the beaten path.
Techniques
Practice – reflection - intuition. Practical drawing and observation exercises, experimenting with different materials, contemplating art using artists’ writings and poetry.
Equipment:
Sketch pad (as big as you dare!), soft pencils (2B and more), charcoal, pastel chalks and/or other drawing materials as desired.
Gabriele Juvan
Gabriele Juvan has been carrying out artistic projects to create communication in public spaces since 1990, including: 2009 Die Flaneure (Darmstadt); 2008 Ankunft des Mahú (Schloss Homburg); 2007 Le Temps des Cerises (Luxembourg European Cultural Capital); 1989-1999 The Five Cities Project (Frankfurt, New York, Prague, Moscow and Tokyo). Offenbach Culture Prize 2006, because she "...successfully brings people of different generations and cultures together on a communal as well as international level." Lectures at the 11. and 7. Performance Studies Conferences (Brown University, Providence/RI and Mainz University).
